At Mega Bite we are dedicated to helping you have an exceptional fishing adventure.
Mega Bite Fishing Charters have many packages available. For applications, morning and noon is the best time to go out because that is when the trout are the most active. Night fishing is better farther in the season. As for the tourism side, Mega Bite Fishing Charters have multiple boats to take out for trips. Mega Bite’s boats are huge with big cabins, perfect for any outing you want to plan.
Trolling East Grand Traverse bay over the years has provided us some amazing opportunities and experiences. Catching Lake trout most of the year and the Salmon during August and September. Utilizing our trailerable, fiberglass, big water proven boats we are happy to be able to offer Salmon specific trips much earlier in the year. On these trips we encourage you to be hands on! This could come in the form of driving the boat, helping move and set rods, netting fish, or grabbing a rod that’s screaming with a big king in the rod holder! For these trips we could be launching out of Leland, Glen Arbor, or Frankfort. This allows us to go wherever the fishing is best! For these trips we encourage groups of 3 or less. However we may be able to accommodate a 4th depending on specifics and our discretion. Multiple boats may be available upon request.
*An added bonus to these trolling trips is if Lake Michigan is too rough for us to safely or enjoyably get out on we will fall back and jig Lake Trout on one of the Grand Traverse Bays!
Ready for something a little different? A Little more hands on? Jigging for LakeTrout is something you are going to want to do! We are excited to offer this new experience on our smaller fiberglass boats. While being equipped with quality gear and the best lure selection possible we will set off on one of the Grand Traverse Bays jigging 5-15+ pound Lake Trout! This experience allows us to take up to 3 Clients plus one of our Captains. Depending on specific details we can at times accommodate a 4th (situational). This is the perfect activity for a family, a parent and a child, or a few friends wanting to have a good time. Have a bigger group but still want to experience the Jigging action? If you book early enough we can accommodate up to 3 other captains and their respective boats. This would allow for larger groups of 10 or 12 people total with up to 3 people per boat!
The entire Traverse City area offers world class Smallmouth fishing. If you fished with us in the early years of the business you certainly had Ron as the first Mate on the boat. Ron first mated and helped build the Mega Bite experience from 2014 to 2019. He then obtained his Captains license and started guiding on his own and building his experience and understanding of the area while helping out from time to time on our larger boats. Since then Ron has emerged as one of the top Smallmouth Guides in the area. Understanding the intricacies and details of the Great Lake Smallmouth fishery. Whether you are a first time fisherman, a seasoned angler, or someone looking to do something new this is an experience you’re not going to want to miss! Ron provides Smallmouth trips from April all the way through November (Weather allowing). The ideal group size for these trips are 1-3 people. Ron will provide you with all the coaching and advice needed to help you be successful on your trip. He values your experience over everything else which is why he rarely picks up a rod for himself besides to help instruct you or suggest a change to increase your effectiveness!
For more information please contact Captain Ron Dohm at 231-715-9540.
Ice fishing with Mega Bite Fishing Charters is a fun, relaxing, and comfortable experience not to be missed: for both first-time ice anglers and experienced ice anglers. All the equipment necessary for a fun day on the ice is provided, shanties, heaters, rods and reels, underwater cameras and the lures or bait that will be used. Your shanty will be set up and heated when you arrive. Transportation on and off the ice is also included with our trips, when safe and practical. Come and fish with friendly and experienced ice Guides who grew up ice fishing the area, and can help provide a successful, fun, safe, and memorable trip out on the ice.
Working in conjunction with Sport Fish Michigan, we will be offering select dates in late April and May during the peak of the annual Detroit River walleye run. Sport Fish Michigan specifically chooses dates each year to coincide with when they feel the best opportunities are to catch limits of walleyes coming in from Lake Erie. We are proud to partner with Sport Fish Michigan to offer these trips to you during the best times. Morning and afternoon trips are available, and all of the tackle and gear necessary will be provided for you. Sport Fish Michigan only uses G. Loomis rods paired with Shimano reels, and guides out of DNR-inspected Ranger boats outfitted with the best equipment available.
Does Team Building perplex you?? A team outing is a great way to facilitate bonding, reduce stress, and let everyone get to know each other outside of the office. Want to know what’s really fun and accomplishes all of this and more?
Fishing! Specifically, a charter fishing excursion in Traverse City, MI. A great sport for anyone at any age, charter fishing is so versatile it works perfectly as a Team Building event for businesses.
How? Two or three teams per boat compete against one another during a 4 hour fishing charter for The Biggest Fish! The Longest Fish! The Team to Limit Out Fastest! The Team with the Widest Variety of Species Caught! The Heaviest Total Catch! Or,..invent your own specific competition (Team Who Lost the Most Fish, oops!). Boats hold 4-6 team members each and the number of boats can expand to meet the number of teams on your outing.
A team building Bonus?? We clean and bag everyone’s catch for them, and everyone takes home and eats what they catch!! Even more? If you want a fun follow-up event weeks after your charter, schedule a fish fry picnic at your home location, with your Team’s collective catch! Team Members will tell fish tales about who caught “the big one” and relive wonderful memories of fresh air, the gentle sound of water lapping the sides of your charter boat and the utter adrenaline rush of excitement when the captain hollers “”FISH ON” and you rush to grab the pole and reel in your catch!!! Bonding and the resulting tales months later are magical when groups spend a beautiful day on the pristine blue waters of Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City, MI.
